【摘要】:Thedensityofpolyethyleneisaconvenientlymeasurablepropertywhichisfrequentlyusefulasameansoffollowingphysicalchangesinasample,asanindicationofuniformityamongsamples,andasameansofidentification.Thistestmethodisdesignedtoyieldresultswithaprecisionofx00B1;0.08%orbetter.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthedensityofpolyethylenethroughtheutilizationofultrasoundequipment.1.2Thistestmethodisbasedonthedistinctbehaviorsoftheamorphousandcrystallinephasesofpolyethyleneinresponsetoultrasound.Polyethylenecanbeviewedasacompositestructurewherehigh-densitycrystallineregionsareconnectedbylower-densityamorphousmaterial.Theratioofcrystallinetoamorphousmaterialdeterminesthefinaldensityofthematerial.Theamorphousandcrystallinephasesexhibitverydistinctbehaviorswithregardtothepropagationofsoundwaves.Thepropagationcharacteristicsinthecompositewilldependontherelativeamountofthetwophases(thedegreeofcrystallinity).1.3InorganicmaterialsincreasedensityasmeasuredbyTestMethodsD792andD1505,buttheyhavelittleornoeffectonultrasonicdensity.Theultrasonicmeasurementisbasicallyabaseresindensity.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOstandard.
